March is creeping up on us which means springs is in the air and it will not be long until we feel the warmth of the sunshine on our faces again.

This winter has certainly been a gloomy one and many of us have resorted to hibernating from the cold and corona whilst gorging on hearty food.

Do not beat yourself up about this Instead, let go of the guilt, forgive yourself and do not let it impact your motivation to make this year a physically and mentally healthy one for you.

Netflix have just released a great new series called Headspace -the guide to meditation.

Headspace takes a friendly, animated look at the benefits of meditation while offering techniques and guided meditations to jump-start your practice.

Mediation and mindfulness have been around for centuries and is known to reduce stress, help fight anxiety, improve sleep and on some occasions even reduce blood pressure.

So, what are you waiting for? One Netflix binge you do not need to feel guilty about!

For those of you who are trying to steer away from the sofa there is in fact a Headspace app which has been kicking about since 2013 with over 1 million subscribers.

The app, which offers the first ten sessions for free and a subscription after that, has an appealing design with distinctive animations to introduce you to new meditation techniques. 30 days on Headspace has been clinically proven to reduce stress by a third, With CO- VID  19 blighting the UK and many people in isolation, taking good care of our mental health is paramount right now

You may be thinking who is behind this concept, is it a team of tech wizards preaching about becoming Zen whilst plugging headspace which essentially is an app on your mobile, but when you discover the founders and their backgrounds it all sort of makes sense.

Andy Puddiscombe is a Meditation and Mindfulness expert. Andy made the unexpected decision to travel to the Himalayas to study meditation instead. It was the beginning of a ten-year journey which took him around the world, culminating with ordination as a Tibetan Buddhist monk in Northern India.

After completing his time in a Monastery Andy then went on to divulge what he had learnt on a consultancy basis and began working with individuals in High pressured occupations… and that is where he met Rich Pierson stressed from his demanding role in advertising, Andy and Rich began to start swapping skills in business and mediation and that is how Headspace was Birthed.

Regardless of how you choose to meditate, there is proof that it is like a workout for building the skill of emotional control, and that in turn is a valuable skill to have when you are a high performer in any field.
